Technology does not matter

Newer, faster, better?

We have seen many systems coming and going in the last two centuries. And we have seen very much bad coding styles, dirty code, non operational software, and bad designs of both the presentation and the architecture, if there was one.

In fact, it does not matter which technology was used. It was almost always the architecture and/or design of the software products which was the success factor. The more data centric an application, the more important is the architecture. With a good design, software remains maintainable and manageable. High maintenance costs are often an indicator of architecture problems.
